The upcoming musical adaptation of the Broadway show of the same name will be split into two parts. Wicked Part One will be released on November 27, 2024. Wicked Part 2 was originally scheduled to hit theaters around Christmas 2025. Now, however, the release has been pushed back a month to November 26, 2025, a year after the first film, just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend in theaters.

“In an alternate take on the Land of Oz, the true heroine is falsely portrayed as a ‘wicked’ witch and is actually revealed to be a freedom fighter fighting the Wizard for her homeland,” reads the film’s synopsis.

Who is in the cast of the Wicked film?

Cynthia Erivo will play Elphaba and Ariana Grande will play Glinda. Jonathan Bailey will play Fiyero Tigelaar, Jeff Goldblum will play The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Ethan Slater will play Boq, Michelle Yeoh will play Madame Morrible and Bowen Yang will play Pan.

Jon M. Chu (In the Heights, Crazy Rich Asians) will direct the Wicked films.
