One of the most important characters in Secret invasion is Ben Mendelsohn’s Skrull leader Talos. He has some history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so let’s take a look at what makes Talos so central to the new Disney+ series.
Who is Talos?
Talos first appeared in Captain Marvel in 2019. Set in 1995, the film depicts the arrival of Talos and his fellow Skrulls on Earth after reviewing Captain Marvel’s memories of the planet. The Skrulls are fugitives pursued by the Kree during the Kree-Skrull War, resulting in them trying to find a new home before the Kree find them.
Talos eventually joins forces with Nick Fury and Captain Marvel to battle Yon-Rogg and fellow Kree. The film ends with Captain Marvel helping the Skrulls find a new world, although Talos eventually returns, posing as Nick Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home at Fury’s request. The post-credits scene of this film showed Fury in space with Talos taking his place, which could be themed in Secret Invasion.
Who is Ben Mendelsohn?
Ben Mendelsohn is an Australian actor. In addition to his MCU role, some of Mendelsohn’s other roles include The Dark Knight Rises as John Daggett, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as director Orson Krennic, and Ready Player One as Nolan Sorrento. He also provided commentary for the intro and interludes on Gorillaz’s 2017 album Humanz.
