On Friday, fx announced that Season 2 of Welcome to Wrexhama documentary starring Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and their Wrexham AFC football team premieres September 12.
In February 2021, Reynolds and McElhenney bought Wrexham AFC, a struggling Welsh football team that plays in the National League, the fifth tier of English football. The documentaries explore the rich heritage of Wrexham, the third oldest professional football club, and its passionate fan base as Reynolds and McElhenney seek to bring the team back to prominence.
What can you expect from Season 2 of Welcome to Wrexham?
Reynolds and McElhenney headline “Welcome to Wrexham” as the series chronicles their role as owners of the Welsh football team. Season 2 follows the 2022-2023 season which culminated in a thrilling Championship win and promotion to the fourth tier of English football.
The 18-episode first season was a huge hit for FX and received six Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program.
Reynolds and McElhenney are producing Welcome to Wrexham, along with Boardwalk Pictures’ Bryan Rowland, George Dewey, Jeff Luini, Josh Drisko, Nick Frenkel and Andrew Fried, Alan Bloom, Dane Lillegard, Jordan Wynn and Sarina Roma
Season 1 is available to stream on Hulu in the US. Season 2 will premiere on FX and stream on Hulu the next day. Season 2 will launch on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ in all other territories at a later date.
