Further details on Turner-Smith’s character are still under wraps. Lee is expected to portray the CEO of a gaming and tech company “who wants to protect their world-changing technology.”
What awaits you in Tron: Ares?
Tron: Ares is directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) from a script by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. Leto will play the title character – a manifestation of a program becoming sentient and spilling over into the human world.
The film is being produced by Emma Ludbrook, Jeffrey Springer and Leto. Russell Allen will serve as executive producer. Production is expected to begin in August 2023.
The 1982 original revolved around Jeff Bridges’ Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer who was transported into a fantastical virtual world and joined in the overthrow of an evil AI regime. More than three decades later, the film was followed by the sequel directed by Joseph Kosinski Tron: Legacystarring Garett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, James Frain, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen.
