Travis Knight creates a challenging fight sequence for Laika’s upcoming film wild forest.

Wildwood hails from the studio behind Coraline, ParaNorman and Missing Link. This stop-motion fantasy epic is directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee). The film follows Prue, a young woman who stumbles upon a mystical, enchanted forest.

Knight has shared information about a huge fight sequence in the film that he had never attempted before.

“It’s the hardest thing we’re going to do in this film,” Knight said Rich. “We start to slack off and we’re hesitantly like, ‘Oh god, oh god, oh god, how are we going to do this?’ But I think it will work. And if so, will you tell me when the film is finished. Stop-motion movies tend to look like they were shot on a table, because that’s the way it is. Moving a physical object frame by frame and trying to breathe life into it is a challenge in itself. And then you bring all the kinetics that you would have in a real-action movie… It’s so hard.”

Who is in the Wildwood cast?

Wildwood features a star cast including Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits and Richard E .Grants. The film will hit theaters in 2025.
