Accordingly meetingParamount Pictures has changed the release date for eOne’s upcoming animated prequel, centered on the origins of Cybertron. Transformers One. The film was originally scheduled for release on July 19, 2024, but has now been officially pushed back to September 13, 2024.
Its current theatrical release date will be that Transformers One debuts in the same month, along with two other high-profile feature films, including Tim Burton’s long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel and Marvel Studios’ live-action film Blade.
Who is involved in Transformers One?
TRANSFORMERS ONE is directed by Toy Story 4’s Josh Cooley from a screenplay by Andrew Barer, Steve Desmond, Gabriel Ferrari and Michael Sherman. The animated prequel will feature the voices of Chris Hemsworth as Optimus Prime, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.
The project is produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, Michael Bay, Mark Vahradian and Aaron Dem. Executive producers include Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, Brian Oliver, Bradley J. Fischer and Valerii An.
Although not too much is known about the film, Di Bonaventura recently revealed what to expect. According to di Bonaventura, the project will actually focus on the origins of young Megatron and young Optimus Prime, as the two start out as friends before ending up on rival sides of the battlefield. The reason for doing this in animation, he says, is that it’s just “financially impossible” to do it in a live-action format.
