Tom Holland admits part of him wants to move away from Spider-Man.

The 27-year-old English actor has played the web-slinging superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War since 2016. He has since portrayed Peter Parker/Spider-Man in two Avengers films and three standalone films, completing his trilogy in 2021 with Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, a fourth MCU Spider-Man film is still in the works.

Holland attended some development meetings for the film. “It was me, Amy, (Marvel Studios President), Kevin Feige, (executive producer) Rachel (O’Connor), other Marvel executives are there sometimes,” said Tom Holland The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s a collaborative process. The first meetings asked, “Why would we do this again?” And I think we found the reason why. I’m really happy with where we are in terms of creativity.”

“But I’m also a little afraid of it,” he adds. “The fourth film is a little bit stigmatized in all franchises. I feel like we hit a home run with our first franchise, and part of me wants to go home with my head held high and pass the baton to the next lucky kid who gets to bring this character to life.”
