Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem should be out this summer. Ahead of the animated reboot’s debut, it was announced that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross would compose the film’s score.
The news came courtesy of legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, who noted on a recent episode of the Hawk vs. Wolf podcast that the pair would be working on the soundtrack. “He and Atticus are working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” Hawk said. “When I was there, they were working on the soundtrack to the movie that Seth (Rogen) was telling us about.”
Reznor – the frontman of the band Nine Inch Nails – and Ross have been working together for a long time. Together, the two have created soundtracks for a variety of films, including The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl, Soul, Mid90s, Bird Box, Bones and All ‘, ‘Empire of Light’ and more.
Next up for the duo is David Fincher’s 2023 film The Killer and Challengers – a new romantic sports comedy directed by Luca Guadagnino.
What is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem about?
Directed by Jeff Rowe and co-director Kyler Spears, the film will feature an all-star cast that includes Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Hannibal Buress, Rose Byrne, Nicolas Cantu, John Cena, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube and Natasia include Demetriou, Ayo Edebiri, Giancarlo Esposito, Post Malone, Brady Noon, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd and Maya Rudolph.
“After years of shelter from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic deeds,” reads the official synopsis of the film. “Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a notorious crime syndicate, but they soon find themselves in trouble when an army of mutants is unleashed on them.”
