TMNT: Mutant Mayhem director on whether Shredder will appear in a sequel

In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Director Jeff Rowe has teased TMNT villain Shredder’s appearance in possible sequels to the upcoming animated action comedy. Rowe explained that introducing Splinter’s longtime nemesis in future projects would be much more “interesting and dramatic” as it aids in the character development of the titular characters.

In a recent interview with SFX Magazine, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Director Jeff Rowe has teased TMNT villain Shredder’s appearance in possible sequels to the upcoming animated action comedy. Rowe explained that introducing Splinter’s longtime nemesis in future projects would be much more “interesting and dramatic” as it aids in the character development of the titular characters.

“When you’ve grown as a teenager and developed confidence, then going up against an opponent three times scarier than anything you’ve ever seen is interesting and dramatic,” Rowe said.

What is Mutant Mayhem about?

“After years of shelter from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers through heroic deeds and be accepted as normal teenagers,” reads the film’s official synopsis. “Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a notorious crime syndicate, but they soon find themselves in trouble when an army of mutants is unleashed on them.”

The film will feature the voices of Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michaelangelo, Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog, Rose Byrne as Leatherhead, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, John Cena as Rocksteady, Jackie Chan as Splinter, Ice Cube as Superfly, Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut, Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil, Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman, Post Malone as Ray Fillet, Brady Noon as Raphael, Seth Rogen as Bebop, Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko and Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is directed by Jeff Rowe and Kyle Spears from a screenplay by Rowe, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit. It is produced by Rogen, Goldberg and James Weaver. Executive producers are Ramsay McBean and Josh Fagen.
