The trailer too The Winter King unveils a revisionist take on the Arthurian legends, premiering August 20 on MGM+. Adapted from the Warlord Chronicles novels by Bernard Cornwell, the ten-part series stars Iain De Caestecker as Arthur Pendragon.

What you should know about the Winter King
“The Winter King is set in the fifth century,” says one logline. “Long before Britain was united in a brutal land of warring factions and tribes, where life was often ephemeral. The series follows Arthur Pendragon on his journey from outcast to legendary warrior and leader.”
In addition to De Caestecker, best known for his role as Leo Fitz in Agents of SHIELD, The Winter King also stars Eddie Marsan as High King Uther, Ellie James as Nimue, Nathaniel Martello-White as Merlin, Stuart Campbell as Derfel and Daniel Ings as Owain, Valene Kane as Morgan, Jordan Alexandra as Guinevere, and Simon Merrells as Gundleus.
Also starring are Steven Elder as Bishop Bedwin, Andrew Gower as Sansum, Aneirin Hughes as Gorfydd, Emily John as Ceinwyn, Tatjana Nardone as Ladwyss, Ken Nwosu as Sagramor and Billy Postlethwaite as Cadwys.
Otto Bathurst is directing and executive producing on The Winter King alongside Toby Leslie. Executive producers Kate Brooke and Ed Whitmore adapted Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles. Julia Gardner, Lachlan MacKinnon, Jane Tranter, Sherry Marsh, Shelley Browning and Kenneth L. Browning are serving as executive producers and Catrin Lewis Defis is serving as producer.
