The White Lotus Season 3 Casting Has Begun, Filming Expected to Start February 2024

With the SAG-AFTRA strike resolved, HBO’s The White Lotus is diving headfirst into production on Season 3. Deadline reported that casting for Season 3 has begun, with filming expected to start in Thailand in February 2024.

Like the previous entries, Season 3 will feature a new ensemble of characters. According to Deadline, HBO is casting thirteen roles, with nine as series regulars ranging from ages 18 to 80. Expected roles include a “patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, a misfit, and a yogi.”

Only one cast member from a previous season is expected to reprise their role for Season 3. Natasha Rothwell, who played spa manager Belinda Lindsey in Season 1, will return for the third season.

Who is Involved in The White Lotus Season 3?

Series creator Mike White returns to write and direct Season 3. White recently shared with EW that he’s finishing scripts for a “supersized” third season.

“It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier,” White said. “I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing . . . I’m super excited about the content of the season.”

Due to the strikes, HBO and Max CCO Casey Bloys revealed The White Lotus Season 3 was scheduled to premiere in 2024, but now, it’s “likely moving into 2025.”

The White Lotus is created, written, and directed by White. Additional producers include John M. Valerio, Heather Persons, and Todd Brown. White executive produces alongside Nick Hall, David Bernad, and Mark Kamine.

The White Lotus has been a smash hit for HBO. Season 1, which was filmed in Hawaii, received 11 nominations at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning five, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Season 2, which was filmed in Italy, secured 12 nominations at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, with nine cast members being recognized in the acting categories.
