We take a first look at it The nun 2the next horror film in The Conjuring Universe.
In 2018, audiences were treated to “The Nun,” which ended with Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) escaping the demon Valak. This sequel picks up four years later and follows her character in a different location. “She’s living this anonymous life in this convent in Italy,” says Michael Chaves, director of The Nun 2. EW, who previously directed The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. “She had this traumatic experience, this great adventure, and now she wants to have a life of service.”
In this film, Valak owns Irene’s boyfriend Maurice (Jonas Bloquet). “Maurice came to France and works in this boarding school as a kind of handyman,” says Chaves. “He has a friendship and a flirtation with one of the teachers there, and you see him maturing, so that’s where our characters start. But from the first film we know that there is something horrible in him, that Valak escaped in him and the events put Irene back on a collision course with her old friend.”
Storm Reid (The Invisible Man, The Last of Us) appears as a new character in the film. “She’s a nun-in-training and she’s considering taking her vows,” says Chaves. “She is at this pivotal point in her life and is being drawn on this mission, on this journey, with Irene to hunt Maurice through these horrific events.”

The Nun 2 is slated for release on September 8, 2023 on Warner Bros. Pictures.
