What did James Cameron say about a new Terminator movie?
In a recent appearance at the Dell Tech World conference, Cameron revealed that he’s actually in the process of writing a new Terminator movie – and has been for about three months. However, Cameron said he has no plans to complete it until he sees how the growth of AI plays out.
The news comes as a surprise to many. When last discussing the possibility of a new Terminator, Cameron said he wasn’t sure if another film was in the pipeline. However, Cameron said that a new Terminator movie would be more about the “AI side”.
“If I were to do another Terminator movie and maybe try to re-launch the franchise that’s currently being discussed but nothing decided yet, I would focus a lot more on the AI side than I do evil robots gone mad,” revealed Cameron during an appearance on Wondery and Amazon’s Smartless Podcast in December 2022.
Previously, there were rumors that 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate was the start of a new trilogy. However, the film failed at the box office, resulting in plans for future films being canceled.
