Peacock dropped the first batch The Continental Photos for the upcoming three-part prequel series to the blockbuster John Wick film franchise. The photos offer fans their first look at the main cast, including young versions of Winston and Charon. Its debut is scheduled for September 2023 on Peacock and Starz in the US and internationally on Prime Video.
According to a statement from executive producer Basil Iwanyk, the limited drama will give John Wick fans a chance to learn more about Winston and Charon, as well as the story of how The Continental became the epicenter of the franchise.
“The four Wick films take place over a period of three months. Either John is on the hunt or he is being pursued. There was no time to take a deep breath, to allow the audience to delve deeper into the world and its inhabitants,” said Iwanyk. “On our show, The Continental, we finally have space to explore these characters, how they came to be who they are, and how The Continental became the epicenter of this world. Couple that with the introduction of new characters that are just as captivating as any in the John Wick universe. Action that’s insanely cool and imaginative. Easter eggs sure to delight die-hard Wick fans. And what I love most: a vision of ’70s New York that embodies the sexiness, edginess and soulful style the franchise is known for. This show will look/sound/smell cooler than any other show out there.”
