The premiere date for Peacock’s upcoming John Wick spin-off/prequel series The Continental was revealed.
Although it has long been known that The Continental would be boarding in September, meeting now brings the news of a concrete debut date. The first episode of the three-part series arrives on Peacock on Friday September 22nd. Episode 2 will follow on September 29th. The third and final episode of The Continental will be out on October 6th on Peacock.
What is The Continental about?
Peacock’s The Continental focuses on the hotel of the same name, which serves as both a safe haven for assassins and the centerpiece of the John Wick franchise. Set in 1970s New York City, the series follows a young Winston Scott (Colin Woodell) as his past haunts him. (Ian McShane previously played an older Winston in the modern John Wick films.)
“The four Wick films take place over a period of three months…John is either on the hunt or being pursued. “There wasn’t time to take a deep breath to allow the audience to delve deeper into the world and its inhabitants,” said executive producer Basil Iwankyk.
“On our show, The Continental, we finally have space to explore these characters, how they came to be who they are, and how The Continental became the epicenter of this world,” Iwankyk continued. “Couple that with the introduction of new characters who are just as compelling as any in the John Wick universe. Action that’s insanely cool and imaginative. Easter eggs sure to delight die-hard Wick fans. And what I love most: a vision of ’70s New York that embodies the sexiness, edginess and soulful style the franchise is known for. This show will look/sound/smell cooler than any other show out there.”
