The adult swimming schedule is expanded, retro cartoons are shown

Adult Swim recently added an hour to their program. Well – loud meeting – You’re doing it again.

The news comes just a month after Adult Swim — which normally began airing at 8:00 p.m. EST on Cartoon Network — began airing at 7:00 p.m. EST. Beginning August 28, 2023, the studio will now air Monday through Friday at 6:00 p.m. EST.

According to Deadline, the new block will be called Checkered Past and will feature many of Cartoon Network’s classic titles. Shows reportedly include Dexter’s Laboratory, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog and Ed, Edd, n’ Eddy. These will be a rotation of shows like Teen Titans Go! substitute.

Adult Swim will air reruns of current TV PG originals such as Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and My Adventures With Superman on weekends during the first hour on Saturdays. Acme Night is on Sundays, showing family-friendly movies from 6pm to 9pm

The move comes as Adult Swim’s latest foray was met with high praise earlier this evening. According to Deadline, Cartoon Network saw a 38% increase in the 18-34 age group. There was also a huge increase in the 18-49 age group, proving that fans are hungry for more.

“Animation can appeal to multiple age groups simultaneously and also attract new audiences over decades,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Discovery Kids, in a statement to Deadline. “The early Cartoon Network originals – like Dexter’s Laboratory or Courage the Cowardly Dog – are examples of shows that can do both.”
