A new Taika Waititi Star Wars Movie Update appeared courtesy of the director. Waititi notes that progress on the film’s screenplay continues.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Waititi brought up his long-in-development Star Wars film. According to the director, he’s still working on the script, and while he has “a really good idea for it,” he’s stuck with the middle parts of the film.
“I have a really good idea for this,” Waititi said. “It’s like all movies, it’s that middle part. You’re like, “What’s going to happen?” And then you watch all these movies that are so great you’re like, “Well, I guess you can’t meet a smuggler with an alien pal.”
Last year, Waititi said he hasn’t done much work on the film yet and that he definitely wouldn’t start this year due to his work on other projects. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy also recently announced that the director is the sole writer on the project and that they will direct the film “one day.”
