Actor Sylvester Stallone has admitted that Arnold Schwarzenegger was the superior action star.

Stallone and Schwarzenegger were the titans of the action film genre in the 1980s. Rambo and the Terminator appeared in many films of this era and established themselves as action heroes. Stallone authorized that the stars hated each other in the ’80s and their acting careers led to stiff competition. Their rivalry led to this Schwarzenegger once tricked Stallone to appear in a critically filmed film.

In Schwarzenegger’s new Netflix docu-miniseries Arnold, Stallone admitted that Schwarzenegger is the dominant star. “You actually relied on your body to tell the story,” Stallone said. “There was no need for dialogue. I saw that there was a chance because no one else did, except another guy from Austria who doesn’t have to say much… He was superior. He just had all the answers. He had the body. He had the power. That was his character.”

“I had my ass kicked all the time, while Arnold never got hurt much,” Stallone said of the differences in their action hero roles. “And I’m like, ‘Arnold, you could go out and fight a dragon and you’d come back with a band-aid.'”

Schwarzenegger returned the praise, admitting, “Every time he put out a movie like ‘Rambo II,’ I had to find a way to top that.” Maybe if it wasn’t for Stallone, I wouldn’t have been as motivated in the ’80s, kind of Making films that I’ve made and working as hard as I have. I’m a competitive person.”

After a while, the two stars managed to put aside their mutual hatred and became friends. They subsequently appeared in Escape Plan and all three Expendables films together. Sylvester Stallone will be appearing in Tulsa King on Paramount+ and Expendables 4 later this year. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in his new Netflix series Fubar.
