Survival of the Thickest Release Date Set for Netflix in Teaser Trailer

Netflix has released the first official preview of its upcoming comedy-drama series Survival of the fattest. The trailer tells the story of a woman trying to rebuild her life after a breakup.

When is Survival of the Thickest coming out?

Survival of the Thickest was created by Michelle Buteau (who stars in the series) and Danielle Sanchez Witzel. It is based on Buteau’s memoir of the same name. The series is produced by A24 and will premiere on Netflix on July 13, 2023.

In addition to Buteau, the other cast members include Tone Bell, Tasha Smith and Christine Horn. Recurring cast members include Garcelle Beauvais, Anissa Felix, Peppermint, Taylor Selé, Marouane Zotti and more.

“Survival of the Thickest revolves around Mavis Beaumont (Michelle Buteau). Mavis is black, plus size, and recently single (not by choice!). She unexpectedly has to rebuild her life as a struggling stylist,” reads the official synopsis. “She’s determined not only to survive but to thrive, with the support of her dream family, a positive attitude towards her body and a cute V-neckline with some lip gloss. The screenplay is based on Buteau’s acclaimed book of essays.”
