Squid Game was created by Hwang and premiered on Netflix in September 2021. The survival drama became an overnight sensation and secured the title of the most watched original series of all time on Netflix (by a wide margin).

Squid Game centers on the indebted participants in a twisted competition where players take part in various children’s games. The twist is that losing means death. The last player standing will win a cash prize of 45.6 billion KRW (about 34.69 million USD at the time of writing). Netflix renewed the series for the second season in January 2022. As already mentioned, the new part will go into production later this year.

Squid Game Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix. There is no premiere date for season 2 yet.
