What is Shia LaBeouf writing about?
Speak with The film stage (above IndieWire) Recently, Ferrara — who directed LaBeouf in the recent film Padre Pio — said the two were working on the film and LaBeouf was writing the project.
“He’s really fine, man. He’s doing really well. He went off and made a Coppola movie,” Ferrara said, referring to the upcoming Francis Ford Coppola movie Megalopolis.
“So that means there was one of those movies, right? I mean, Padre Pio was 15 or 20 days old and he was there for four, so he wasn’t there long. But whatever, it was good and he’s working. And we’re working on a film together, he’s writing something about Auschwitz, which we’re thinking about.”
Although LaBeouf is best known for his acting roles, he has screenwriting experience. The star previously made his screenwriting debut with the autobiographical film Honey Boy, which was directed by Alma Har’el. LaBeouf later clarified that it is about the film largely a fiction.
His last role was in Ferrara’s Padre Pio, his first major role since the artist and former partner FKA Twigs brought allegations of sexual assault, assault and numerous other allegations against the actor. LeBeouf admitted to “hurting” FKA Twigs during an appearance on Jon Bernthal’s Real Ones podcast, but didn’t go into too many specifics.
Following his role in Padre Pio, LeBeouf will also star in Francis Ford Coppola’s 2024 film Megalopolis.
