What is the harvest in Secret Invasion?
The Harvest is a vial containing the Avengers’ DNA.
During the Battle of Earth, Earth’s mightiest heroes shed blood to defend the planet from Thanos. Nick Fury collected the Avengers’ DNA thanks to the help of the Skrulls. Their ability to change their outward appearance made the Skrulls the perfect choice for the job as they could easily blend in. The collectors were led by Gravik, who then came up with the idea of the Super Skrull machine. Because Fury was the one responsible for “The Harvest”, he feels responsible for endangering the very existence of mankind through the insurgency of the Skrulls. To make up for his mistakes, Fury returned to stop Gravik from taking over Earth.

Episode 5 of Secret Invasion focused on Gravik’s attempt to reclaim The Harvest. In turn, Fury tried to keep the vial’s location hidden from the Skrull leader until the very end, but the former boss of SHIELD changed his plans after Gravik threatened to start World War III by forcing the United States to take New Skrullos to Russia to bomb. Together with Sonya Falsworth (who turned out to be one of Fury’s friends rather than an enemy, as the series initially hinted at), Fury traveled to Finland and took the harvest flask with him at the end of the fifth episode of “Secret Invasion”. The credits rolled as Fury declared it was time to end the fight with the rebellious Skrulls.
