actress Scarlett Johansson has provided an update on the Marvel Cinematic Universe project she is producing.
Johansson played Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the MCU for over a decade. This started in 2010 with Iron Man 2 and ended in 2021 with Black Widow. It was previously announced that Johansson would produce a Marvel Studios project unrelated to her character.
At the press conference for her new film “Asteroid City,” said Johansson ComicBook.com about the status of the project.
“It’s still happening,” says Johansson. “It’s still happening, (but) not currently because nothing’s happening right now. We’re all kind of stuck on this hold while we wait out the writers strike and possibly our own guild strike and so on and so forth.”
Johansson cites the ongoing WGA strike and the looming possibility of a Screen Actors Guild strike as reasons the project is not moving forward at this time. “Just before the strike we were in the middle of development and now everything is simmering,” she adds.
