Jackson says Brie Larson isn’t very swayable

In a profile for Rolling StoneJackson was asked about Larson and the hatred she felt for playing Captain Marvel.

“Brie is a stronger person than people give her credit for,” Jackson said.

Jackson noted that Larson asked him for advice after being offered the role of Carol Danvers.

“When she got Captain Marvel, she called me and said, ‘They want me in the Marvel Universe.’ Should I do it?’ And I was like, ‘Damn, yes! Let’s do it!’ But she won’t let any of this destroy her. Those incel guys who hate strong women, or the fact that she’s a feminist who has and speaks her mind? Everyone wants people to be what they want. She is who she is and she really is.”

In addition to Captain Marvel, the couple also starred in the 2017 Netflix film Unicorn Store, which also marked Larson’s directorial debut. The pair will next be seen in the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels, which premieres November 10, 2023.
