As the writers’ strike continues and the Screen Actors Guild joins them as well, actor Ron Perlman has issued a stark warning to those who would try to “starve out” striking people.
What did Ron Perlman say?
In a since-deleted Instagram post, Perlman called out an anonymous executive who told Deadline last week that the end goal for studios and the AMPTP (the alliance of film and television producers) was to continue the WGA strike until people start “losing their homes”.
Perlman indicated that not only did he know who the CEO was, but that there were “many ways to lose your house.”
“One more thing before I wrap this up,” Perlman said in the video. “The bastard who said we’ll keep doing this until people start losing their homes? listen to me mother There are many ways to lose your home. Some of it is financial, some is karma, and some of it is just figuring out who the hell said that — and we know who said that — and where that damn king lives.”
Perlman went on to say that the manager was someone making $27 million a year “for not creating anything,” while also slamming the person for wishing people would lose their homes .
“There are many ways to lose your home,” Perlman said. “You want this from people, you want families to starve while you’re making $27 million a year because you can’t do anything? Be careful mother. Be really careful because this is the kind of shit that causes excitement. Relax yourself.”
The root cause of the strikes in both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA are residuals issues for shows on streaming platforms, as well as other issues such as the use of AI in both the writer’s room and during filming.
