What is the title of Dave Filoni’s Star Wars film?
According to insiders @MyTimeToShineH, Dave Filoni’s Star Wars film will be called Star Wars: Heir to the Empire. The tweet also states that Jon Favreau, who created The Mandalorian, is currently only serving as a producer, making Filoni the sole director of the film.
The title “Heir to the Empire” refers to the 1991 book of the same name by Timothy Zahn. The novel, which served as the first part of the “Thrawn Trilogy” alongside Dark Force Rising and The Last Command, led the fans popular antagonist Grand Admiral Thrawn into the Star Wars universe. The Thrawn trilogy has become one of the most popular parts of the former Star Wars Expanded Universe – now known as Star Wars Legends.
A number of Star Wars projects are currently in the pipeline, including the Disney+ series Ahsoka, The Acolyte, and Skeleton Crew. On the gaming side, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was recently released, while Star Wars: Hunters, Star Wars: Eclipse, and a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic are all on the horizon.
