The Sex Life of College Girls breaking out Renee Rapp gained weight Instagram to officially announce her departure as a series star in the upcoming third season of Max’s popular teen comedy series. Rapp portrays Leighton, a wealthy freshman who is one of the main characters of the series. For the first two seasons, her character revolved around confronting her sexuality.
Although she left The Sex Lives of College Girls, meeting breaks the news that Rapp is expected to appear in “a few more episodes” in Season 3. While the reason for her exit is not yet clear, it could be due to her burgeoning music career, which will see her embark on an international tour later this year.
“College girls took me to LA and introduced me to some of my favorite people. Two and a half years later – it gave me all of you and this community,” wrote Rapp in her Instagram story. “Thank you Mindy, Justin and everyone at Max for believing in me. A lot of queer work is belittled — but playing Leighton changed my life. I love the person I am ten times more than I did before I knew her. I hope she gave you all a bit of that too. It’s such a tiny part of the representation, but even the tiny parts count. Without her and you I wouldn’t be half the person I am. I love this bitch more than you think. I’m so excited for this season and can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for you and the girls.”
