A critically acclaimed drama tops it all off Prime Video schedule for May 15-21.
Prime Video will follow suit on Friday, May 19th she said to the available content. Directed by Maria Schrader from a screenplay by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, She Said is based on the 2019 non-fiction book of the same name by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey. The story follows journalists from The New York Times as they investigated allegations of sexual abuse by Harvey Weinstein that led to the subsequent #MeToo movement.
She Said has been greeted with generally positive reviews for shedding some light on sexual harassment in industries outside of Hollywood. However, audiences didn’t seem to respond as positively to the film as the film grossed $13.9 million at the box office during its theatrical run.
Two-time Oscar nominees Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan lead a cast that includes Patricia Clarkson, Andre Braugher, Samantha Morton, Tom Pelphrey and Adam Shapiro. She Said received two BAFTA nominations for Best Supporting Actress (Mulligan) and Best Adapted Screenplay.
“The film follows New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor as they pull together one of the most important stories of a generation – a story that helped fuel the #Metoo movement, decades of silence on the issue of sexual assault in Hollywood shook and…”changed American culture forever,” reads the synopsis.
She Said is produced by Academy Award winners Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment. Lila Yacoub also acted as a producer. Annapurna Pictures’ Oscar nominees Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle served as executive producers.
