The Paramount Plus schedule for May 15-21 features the latest film from Mad Max director George Miller, as well as many other new additions for fans to watch on the streaming service this week.
On Tuesday, May 16th, the streamer will be adding “Three Thousand Years of Longing” to their available content. Miller directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Augusta Gore, based on AS Byatt’s short story The Djinn in the Eye of the Nightingale. Idris Elba (The Suicide Squad) and Tilda Swinton (Tár) lead a cast that includes Aamito Lagum, Burcu Gölgedar and Matteo Bocelli.
Three Thousand Years of Longing hit theaters on August 26, 2022. Although the film received generally positive reviews, it was a box office hit and failed to surpass its $60 million production budget, grossing around $20 million.
“DR. Alithea Binnie is an academic, content with life and a reasonable being,” the summary reads offers wishes. This poses two problems. First, she doubts that he is real, and second, because she is knowledgeable about stories and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of failed wishes. The Djinn does his thing by telling her fantastic tales tells of his past. Eventually, she lets herself be seduced and makes a wish that surprises them both.”
The film is being produced by Miller, Doug Mitchell and Kennedy Miller Mitchell, with Craig McMahon and Kevin Sun serving as executive producers. It comes from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, FilmNation Entertainment and United Artists Releasing.
