Beginning Monday, July 10, Paramount Plus subscribers can watch “Emily,” a biographical drama centered on the life of Emily Brontë. Emily was written and directed by Golden Globe winner Frances O’Connor. Starring in the title character is Emma Mackey, a graduate student in sex education. The film premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival and grossed nearly $4 million when it opened in theaters. The cast includes Alexandra Dowling (The Musketeers), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Haunted Hill House), Amelia Gething (The Spanish Princess), Fionn Whitehead (The Duke), Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty) and Gemma Jones (Gentleman). On Friday, July 14, the streamer will also premiere Goliath, an upcoming documentary about the complicated life of legendary pro basketball player Wilt Chamberlain. Chamberlain played for the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers during his NBA career from 1959 to 1973. The documentary takes a detailed look at Chamberlain’s numerous struggles on and off the field, including conflicts with his contemporaries, unrelenting criticism of his performance and larger-than-life personal endeavors. By delving into archival footage, Goliath will shed light on Chamberlain’s profound impact on American history.
