Accordingly The Hollywood Reporter, Sony images has successfully secured the North American theatrical distribution rights to StudioCanal’s highly anticipated film Paddington 3, officially titular Paddington in Peru. US rights for the first two parts were previously managed by Warner Bros.
Production on the sequel is expected to begin on July 24 and will take place in London and Peru. It’s still unclear if Ben Whishaw would reprise his role as the voice of the titular bear.
Who is involved in Paddington 3?
Paddington in Peru is directed by Dougal Wilson in his feature film debut, having previously only directed commercials and music videos. It was written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont (Paddington 1 & 2, The Adventures of Paddington) and is based on a story by Paul King, Simon Farnaby and Burton.
Further plot and character details are still being kept secret, but in the film Paddington will find himself “in difficult situations in the deepest, darkest Peru.” The film is executive produced by Paul King, Tim Wellspring, Jeffrey Clifford, Anna Marsh and Ron Halpern, with David Heyman, Rosie Alison and Rob Silva serving as producers.
Paddington is based on British author Michael Bond’s best-selling and internationally acclaimed children’s story series, which has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 40 languages.
