Most recently, he received this award in 2002 with “Insomnia”. Most of Nolan’s previous films—including Dunkirk, Interstellar, and Inception—received a PG-13 rating.
The highly anticipated film hits theaters on Friday, July 21.

A star-studded cast led by Cillian Murphy stars in “Oppenheimer” as J. Robert Oppenheimer, known as the father of the atomic bomb. He is joined by Emily Blunt as Katherine Oppenheimer, Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, Matt Damon as General Leslie Groves Jr., Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, Josh Hartnett as Ernest Lawrence, Benny Safdie as Edward Teller, and Michael Angarano as Robert Serber .
Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, the film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. The cast also includes Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich and Matthew Modine.
Oppenheimer is distributed in cinemas worldwide by Universal Pictures. Nolan and Emma Thomas are co-producing with Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven via their Syncopy banner.
