Cera and Plaza nearly tied the knot in Las Vegas
Speak with Rolling StoneIn 2010, Cera revealed that he and Plaza almost got married for fun while filming the 2010 cult classic. According to the actor, the two hit upon the idea of getting married and then immediately divorcing and being able to jokingly call each other their ex-husband and ex-wife, respectively.
“Well, we were driving through Las Vegas and almost on the spur of the moment we took a detour and got married,” Cera said, before revealing, “I think the idea was then we’d divorce right away so we could call each other ‘mine.’ .” “Ex-husband” and “my ex-wife” at about… 20.”
According to Plaza, Cera and Plaza were dating at the time of filming, and while the pair didn’t end up tying the knot, Cera’s story will still generate some laughs.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the couple, along with most of the original cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, would be reuniting to star in an anime adaptation of the graphic novel for Netflix.
Cera and Plaza will reprise their roles as Scott Pilgrim and Julie Powers, respectively, as will Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Romana Flowers, Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel, Kieran Culkin as Wallace Wells, Chris Evans as Lucas Lee, Anna Kendrick as Stacey Pilgrim and Brie Larson as Envy Adams and Alison Pill as Kim Pune.
