While some reports Lucasfilm has hinted that Kennedy’s position may be in jeopardy since Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny isn’t doing as well as expected, but Lucasfilm hasn’t officially announced her departure at the moment.
Kennedy has been President of Lucasfilm since 2012. She was personally selected by Star Wars creator George Lucas to succeed him and oversee the operations of the company after he sold Lucasfilm to The Walt Disney Company in 2012. Kennedy was responsible for the production of several Star Wars films, including the new Star Wars trilogy. In addition, there are the standalone films Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Although Lucasfilm produced some very successful films under Kennedy’s leadership, most notably Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fan reactions to most of the new projects were mixed.

Still, the next few weeks could be crucial as Kennedy’s future may depend on the final box office results of Indiana Jones and Dial of Destiny. Directed by James Mangold, the film grossed $154 million at the box office after its first theatrical release weekend. Overall, given Indy’s popularity, the results cannot be described as good. Indiana Jones 5 has a production budget of $300 million. For now, that result looks pretty far-fetched, and the forecasts don’t look good either.
