After the success of House of the Dragon, several followed game of Thrones Spin-offs are in the works at HBO. One of these spin-off series marks the return of Kit Harington as Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, which recently received a major update.
What is the Jon Snow Game of Thrones Series Update?
When talking to meetingFrancesca Orsi, HBO’s head of drama, explained that the Jon Snow spin-off is still in a “very early stage” of development. However, the spin-off has not yet received a series order.
“We’re just working hard with the writers to get it ready for a possible green light, but at this point there’s no certainty it’ll go through to completion,” Orsi said.
News of a Jon Snow spin-off first broke in June 2022, with Harington returning as lead actor and executive producer. The series follows Snow’s adventures north of the Wall with the Wildlings, whom he joined in the Game of Thrones finale.
George RR Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire, confirmed that Harington had the idea for a spin-off and pitched it to Martin and HBO. According to Martin, Harington hired his writing team for the series, but as Orsi reiterated, the spin-off is still in development.
Harington starred as Snow in all eight seasons of Game of Thrones from 2011 to 2019. For his performance, Harington was nominated for two Emmys and a Golden Globe. As for the series itself, Game of Thrones received the most Emmy awards for a drama series, with 59 awards, including four wins for Outstanding Drama Series.
