The acclaimed Spanish actor’s most recent project was Disney’s live-action film The Little Mermaid, in which he played King Triton. He will next be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated Dune: Part Two.
What awaits you in Apex?
Set in the world of elite motorsport, the film follows the Oscar winner as a veteran racer who comes out of retirement to mentor a younger driver. On this occasion, Pitt’s character will attempt to return to his former glory by becoming the newcomer’s partner on the track. Pitt is joined by Snowfall’s Damson Idris as a young F1 racer, The Banshees of Inisherin’s Kerry Condon as Technical Director overseeing the design and development of the demanding race car, and The Crown’s Tobias Menzies.
Apex is directed by Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski from a script by Ehren Kruger. The Formula 1 film is being produced by Pitt’s production company, Plan B, along with legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer. This is Pitt’s latest venture with Apple Studios, which has also acquired the rights to the Oscar-winner’s upcoming reunion film with Ocean’s 11 co-star George Clooney, directed by Jon Watts.
The Formula 1 film will be released in theaters and run exclusively in cinemas worldwide for at least 30 days before being released on the Apple TV+ streaming service.
