Fans might be hoping for one Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 out of James Gunn in the future, but the director recently said that this idea has little chance of realizing.
What did James Gunn say about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1? 4?
Gunn took to Twitter to answer some fan questions and was asked about the possibility of a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4. Gunn said that he was sure there would be another film in the series at some point, but it wouldn’t be called Volume 4 and it wouldn’t have the same cast.
When asked if a “Vol. 4″ will ever come out or has a chance, Gunn said there was “no real chance” of it happening. While the director didn’t divulge the reason for this, it’s not too shocking to hear that both his new position as DC Studios’ co-CEO and the majority of the Guardians cast have expressed that they’re done with the franchise.
The third installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy series was intended to serve as a sort of farewell to the group in its current form. Actors Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldaña both spoke about being done with the franchise ahead of Vol. 3 and since Gunn is also no longer involved in Marvel film production, it’s unknown if and when fans will see the group back together in the MCU.
