What was Groot’s last line in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?

Towards the end of the film, Groot says to the Guardians of the Galaxy, “I love you guys.” One theory by i09 suggests that this may be because audiences now understand Groot, having spent several films with him, and that Groot actually utters words other than “I am Groot”.

When a Twitter When user Gunn tweeted to see if that was true, the filmmaker confirmed that this is “exactly” what Groot’s last line meant.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was again written and directed by James Gunn. MCU veterans Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel return to reprise their respective roles as Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Kraglin, Nebula, Mantis, Rocket and to repeat Groot. Bodies Bodies Bodies star Maria Bakalova stars as Cosmo the Spacedog.

The sequel also introduces franchise newcomers Will Poulter and Chukwudi Iwuji, who play the roles of Adam Warlock and the High Evolutionary.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in theaters now.
