What is AMC’s Interview with the Vampire about?

The first season of Interview With the Vampire consisted of eight episodes and was written and produced by Emmy nominee Rolin Jones, who also serves as showrunner. It starred Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid, Bailey Bass, Eric Bogosian, Assad Zaman, Christian Robinson, Kalyne Coleman and Maura Grace Athari.

“The series follows the epic tale of Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia about love, blood and the perils of immortality as told to journalist Daniel Molloy,” reads the synopsis. “Louis resents the limitations of life as a black man in 20th-century New Orleans and finds it impossible to resist Lestat’s daring offer of the ultimate escape: to join him as his vampire companion. But Louis’ heady new powers come at a high price, and the introduction of Lestat’s newest offspring, child vampire Claudia, soon sets her on a decades-long journey of vengeance and atonement.”

The series is executive produced by Oscar winners Mark Johnson and Christopher Rice. The project is part of Jones and Johnson’s overall deals with AMC Studios.

The first adaptation of Interview with the Vampire led to the Neil Jordan-directed film. Rice worked on the screenplay for the 1994 Oscar-nominated film. It starred Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Kirsten Dunst, as well as Christian Slater and Antonio Banderas.
