Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the fifth film in the action-adventure series, is expected to gross $60 million when it premieres domestically. This is a drop from Crystal Skull’s $100 million three-day opening weekend.

The new film, directed by James Mangold (Logan, Ford vs Ferrari), is set to be the franchise finale. It’s being adopted more by older male viewers than younger ones, leading some to liken the theatrical ratings for Indiana Jones 5 to No Time To Die. This film was Daniel Craig’s swan song as James Bond and grossed $55.2 million in its opening weekend – mostly from the same audience.

Disney might struggle to get the box office numbers it needs. Younger viewers are likely to be drawn to superhero films like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and The Flash this month. Worse, Dial of Destiny sits a 50% Rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes after his Cannes debut; This is the weakest critical take of the series so far.
