Oscar Isaac now stars in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as the fierce Spider-Man 2099. In addition to his many exceptional live-action roles, the actor has put in some incredible voice performances over the years. To celebrate its latest major release, let’s take a look Best Voice Actors by Oscar Isaac.
Gomez Addams – The Addams Family
There are a whole bunch of different perspectives on the Addams Family patriarch — including Raul Juliais the incredible live-action performance from the ’90s – but Oscar Isaac manages to carve out his own version thanks to his clear and smooth voice.
As the character is notoriously charming, not everyone might be able to pull it off – especially since this animated version is based on the design of the more comic book character. Even then, Isaac’s polite performance makes you completely believe he’s this creepy Casanova, making him stand out even among the other famous Gomezes.
Spider-Man 2099 – Spider-Verse Series
As soon as audiences heard Isaac speak as futuristic Spider-Man Miguel O’Hara in the post-credits scene of Into the Spider-Verse, they were ready to see him blossom in the Spider-Verse sequel. Now that it’s here, fans are excited to see Spider-Man 2099 tear it all apart in his multiversal battle with Miles Morales. Although he looks a bit different than in the post-credits scene, this time the figure is no less impressive.
Isaac’s performance as Spider-Man 2099 has an intensity that makes him truly imposing. Even then, there’s an element of genuine caring, reminding you that this isn’t some supervillain, but another Spider-Man trying to do the right thing. Without a doubt, Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 is one of Oscar Isaac’s finest voice acting performances.
Sydney Pollack – The Last Movie Stars
Originally slated to debut on CNN+, the Max Original series (which Martin Scorsese served as executive producer) caused quite a stir. The Last Movie Stars dramatized transcriptions of interviews and became a smash hit.
Isaac played Sydney Pollack in the limited documentary series from Emily Wachtel and Ethan Hawke, starring alongside incredible castmates like Laura Linney, George Clooney and Mark Ruffalo. Isaac’s version of Pollack – the director of famous films like The Way We Were and Tootsie – wowed audiences and made him an integral part of the popular series.
Peter Roiter – Case 63
Released in 2022, Case 63 stars Oscar Isaac alongside the legendary Julianne Moore in an interesting sci-fi story that serves as the English-language remake of the Chilean podcast Caso 63.
Isaac plays apparent time traveler Peter Roiter – an Essex man who claims to have been born in 2023. Roiter and Moore’s Dr. Eliza Beatrix Knight repeatedly engages in therapy sessions while trying to get to the bottom of Roiter’s claims about time travel. Despite his character’s wild claims, Isaac comes across as incredibly honest, which makes for an impressive performance on the Spotify Original audio series.
Poe Dameron – Star Wars: Resistance
One of the highlights of Disney’s Star Wars trilogy was Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron. The plucky pilot had a mischievous charm that made it easy to win over him, so it was an exciting prospect to see the actor reprise the role in an animated setting. He even gets to take on the series’ little-used antagonist, Captain Phasma, which is a big moment for the character in general.
It was a lot of fun to see Poe taking part in adventures outside of the main films, although overall “Resistance” isn’t as strong as “The Clone Wars” or “Rebels”. Dameron’s performances were a highlight – thanks in large part to Isaac – and made Poe Dameron from Star Wars: Resistance one of Oscar Isaac’s finest voice acting performances.
