The How do you live The novel is one of Miyazaki’s favorite books and he began developing the project in 2016. The story revolves around a 15-year-old boy who “embarks on a journey to discover spiritual growth, poverty and the meaning of life with the help of his uncle, whose advice is shared with him from a diary.”
In conversation with Weekly entertainmentToshio Suzuki, CEO of Studio Ghibli, described the project as a “big, fantastic film” that involved 60 animators. In another interview (via geek bully), Suzuki also revealed that Miyazaki is dedicating the film adaptation to his grandson, stating, “Grandpa is moving to the next world, but he’s leaving this movie behind.”
