Is there a release date for Season 2 of House of the Dragon?
House of the Dragon Season 2 release date could be mid-2024.
Despite the recent SAG-AFTRA strike, Season 2 of House of the Dragon will continue to be filmed in the UK due to the primarily British cast involved. As such, the HBO series is unaffected by the strike and will continue to run as planned.
Filming began on April 11, 2023 and is scheduled to wrap up principal photography between October and September. After that, post-production would take another 8-10 months, if not longer. After all, there should be more dragons in season 2. So the VFX department will still need a lot of time to perfect the CGI.
Taking all of that into account, House of the Dragon season 2 should come out in the second or third quarter of 2024. It will likely follow a similar release pattern to Season 1, whose 10 episodes aired on August 21, 2022.
