Over a year after the first season of heelsJack and Ace’s sibling rivalry continues on July 28th. A newly released preview of Season 2 takes a look at the uncertain future of the Duffy Wrestling League.
Following the release of Heels’ Season 2 trailer last month, Season 2 of the drama looks set to be just as riveting and intense as the first. In Season 1, Tom Spade (David James Elliott) took his own life, leaving his wrestling company in the care of his eldest son, Jack Spade (Stephen Amell). However, to keep the business going, Jack and Ace Spade (Alexander Ludwig) must play in the ring with a scripted match in which one must act as the “heel,” the villain, and one must act as the “face,” the hero.
The first season of Heels features a group of dreamers finding success in the Georgia community’s professional wrestling scene. But as Jack and Ace continue to fight for their late father’s inheritance, their ongoing rivalry continues to jeopardize their late father’s business. To make matters worse, ticket sales for the campaign are falling sharply.
What is happening to the Duffy Wrestling League?
The rivalry between the two arises when Jack stops Ace from taking the league championship away from him. It makes their kayfabe feud a real one. As the first season drew to a close, Jack tried to make things right with Ace, but Ace rejected him. As season two approaches, the siblings’ complicated relationship doesn’t appear to have changed.
The heels season 2 logline reads: “Jack and his cronies are gearing up for a potential deal with a new streaming service that could take them to the national stage. But the past and its tragedies threaten to mess things up when Ace leaves Duffy and the Dome in his rear view while Florida Wrestling’s vengeful frontman Gully calls Dystopia.
Heels also stars Alison Luff as Staci Spade, Mary McCormack as Willie Day, Kelli Berglund as Crystal Tyler, Allen Maldonado as Rooster Robbins, James Harrison as Apocalypse and Chris Bauer as Wild Bill Hancock.
