In a recent interview with at the Ghibli exhibition in Tokyo (via world of role) Miyazaki addressed the lack of marketing for his upcoming animated film and admitted he’s definitely nervous about the results. “I wonder if it’ll be okay without commercials,” said the acclaimed filmmaker. “I’m starting to worry (…) I’m worried, that’s all.”

What to Expect in How Do You Live?

Producer Suzuki Toshio also confirmed that despite sharing the same title, Miyazaki’s “How Do You Live” will not be based on Genzaburō Yoshino’s 1937 Japanese coming-of-age story. Suzuki confirmed that the film will feature an original story instead. In a previous interview, Toshio Suzuki, CEO of Studio Ghibli, described the project as a “big, fantastic film” that involved 60 animators.

Miyazaki is best known for cartoon classics like Kiki’s Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. Fans can now celebrate his films at Studio Ghibli’s recently opened theme park, which features attractions and rides inspired by Miyazaki’s work.

How Do You Live is slated to hit Japanese theaters on July 14. At this time, GKIDS has not yet announced the release date for the North American theatrical release.
