An accident occurred while filming a stunt sequence in the upcoming action movie and several people were injured. A Paramount Pictures spokesperson confirmed the news, saying that “on-site security and full medical service teams were able to act quickly” to provide people with the care they needed.

“An accident occurred while filming a planned stunt sequence on the set of the ‘Gladiator’ sequel, resulting in several crew members suffering non-life-threatening injuries,” a spokesman for Paramount Pictures said in a statement. “The security and comprehensive medical teams on site were able to act quickly so that those affected received the care they needed immediately. They are all in stable condition and continue to be treated.”

According to Variety’s report, a total of six people were treated, four of whom are still hospitalized and recovering. All crew members were treated for burn injuries, according to a person familiar with the production. Two other crew members were treated at the scene and discharged, and no cast members were reported injured.

Who will be in Gladiator 2?

Ridley Scott will direct Gladiator 2 from a script by David Scarpa. The sequel is set to take place years after the events of the first film. Paul Mescal will play Lucius, son of Nielsen’s Lucilla, in the first film. Also starring are Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal.

“Gladiator 2” is being produced by Scott and Scott Free President Michael Pruss, and Red Wagon Entertainment’s Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher. Universal also has rights to collaborate on the project once it’s complete, since they co-produced the original with DreamWorks. Also joining the cast are costume designer Janty Yates and production designer Arthur Max.

The original film was directed by Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Oliver Reed, Djimon Hounsou, Tommy Flanagan, and more. The film centers on a disgraced Roman general who becomes a gladiator after being betrayed by Commodus, the emperor’s greedy son. The role of Maximus is often seen as a career-boosting role for Crowe, who gained worldwide acclaim for his compelling performance.
