Freeform Cancels Single Drunk Woman, The Watchful Eye

Disney-owned cable channel Freeform pulled the plug on both Single drunk woman And The watchful eye.

As confirmed by diversity, the comedy series Single Drunk Female was canceled on Freeform after two seasons. Meanwhile, mystery thriller The Watchful Eye was canceled after just one season.

What is Single Drunk Female about?

Created by Simone Finch, Single Drunk Female premiered on Freeform in January 2022.

“Single Drunk Female” starred Sofia Black-D’Elia as Samantha Fink, a 28-year-old alcoholic who is forced to move back in with her mother Carol (Ally Sheedy) after hitting rock bottom. In Season 2, Samantha experienced a new life and was sober for a year and a half. In addition to Black-D’Elia and Sheedy, the comedy also starred Rebecca Henderson, Sasha Compère, Lily Mae Harrington, Garrick Bernard and Ian Gomez. The second season even featured a special cameo from ’80s icon Molly Ringwald.

What is The Watchful Eye about?

The Watchful Eye was created by Julie Durk. The show launched on Freeform in January 2023. The first and only season ended in May 2023. Mariel Molino played Elena Santos, a young woman with a troubled past who begins working as a nanny living with a wealthy family. Elena moves into the fabled Greybourne apartment building in Manhattan, where she quickly discovers a culture full of dark secrets and ulterior motives. In addition to Molino, The Watchful Eye also starred Warren Christie, Amy Acker, Jon Ecker, Aliyah Royale, Lex Lumpkin, Henry Joseph Samiri and Kelly Bishop.

As of this writing, “Single Drunk Female” and “The Watchful Eye” are both streaming in full on Hulu. However, both shows are set to be removed from the platform soon.
