Will there be a sequel to Evil Dead Rise?

Speaking to ComingSoon, Cronin explained that the possibility of a sequel to Evil Dead Rise is “a question of whether it’s for everyone,” although there’s no “potential” there.

“I think there’s always opportunity and potential to bring things to life,” Cronin said. “I think there are a lot of cool aspects to this film. I think one of the things that might be a little different from the previous films is a thoroughly evil that plays out in this film in relation to Ellie being possessed. So there are definitely fun things to discover.

“I have a lot of respect for Sam (Raimi), Rob (Tapert) and Bruce (Campbell) as they do for me. It’s about finding out if it’s right for everyone. I think that’s what ultimately matters. They are producers, they are creatives. I’m a writer and director, I’m a creative, so we’ll never stop talking about the potential. Some of the things we talked about actually happened on set when we were shooting the film in the first place. So it’s always something like “Observe this space”. I think if the story is right and the reason for making the film is right then I think the potential for more is there.”

Evil Dead Rise also stars Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock), as well as Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence), Morgan Davies (The Girlfriend Experience) and Nell Fisher ( North Spur”). The film is written and directed by Lee Cronin (“The Hole In The Ground”), who was handpicked by franchise creators Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert. The executive producers are Raimi, Campbell, Tapert, Romel Adam, John Keville and Macdara Kelleher.

“Shifting the action from the forest to the city, Evil Dead Rise tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters whose reunion is interrupted by the emergence of flesh-possessed demons, plunging them into a primal struggle for survival while confronting fate in ‘The Most Nightmarish Version family you could imagine,” reads the film’s synopsis.
