Euphoria Star Dominic Fike has revealed he almost got kicked off the popular HBO show during production.
Why was Dominic Fike almost kicked out of Euphoria?
In an interview with apple musicFike told of his battle with drug addiction and how he almost ended up leaving the show.
“I was a drug addict and it was very difficult to get on a show that was mostly about drugs,” Fike noted, explaining that series creator Sam Levinson also got him a sober coach, “who taught the been in it all along,” though it didn’t appear to be proving effective (via TVLine.)
“I was so drained for much of that show… But I got reprimanded for it. I almost got kicked off the show. They took me aside. They said, ‘Brother, you can’t do that.’”
Based on the Israeli series of the same name, Euphoria follows a group of high school seniors as they struggle to navigate the worlds of drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship.
It features an ensemble cast that includes Zendaya in the lead role of Rue. The series also stars Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Barbie Ferreira, Storm Reid, Sydney Sweeney, Algee Smith, Jacob Elordi, Austin Abrams, Eric Dane and Nika King. Javon Walton and Dominic Fike join the new season.
euphoria was created and written by Sam Levinson, who also serves as Executive Producer along with Zendaya, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur and original creators Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin.
Ravi Nandan, Kevin Turen, Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Mirit, Toovi, Yoram Mokadi and Gary Lennon are executive producers, while Kenneth Yu, Ashley Levinson, Harrison Kreiss and Julio Perez serve as co-producers.
