Blunt starred opposite Tom Cruise in the 2014 sci-fi film. Cruise played William Cage (Cruise), who uses his newfound time warp ability to fight aliens with the help of Sergeant Rita Vrataski (Blunt). Directed by Doug Liman, the ambitious action film was not a big box office hit. Eventually, however, it found a foothold in home video. Since then, fans have been wondering if a sequel is in sight.
In an interview with meetingBlunt said, “Well, I’d like to do another one. I don’t know when and I don’t know how, but I would love it. I don’t know if my back can take it.”
The film has been in various stages of pre-production for years. Initially, it was announced that Liman would be returning to direct the sequel, with Cruise and Blunt reprising their roles. The preliminary sequel was titled Live Die Repeat and Repeat. However, the project has stalled nearly ten years after the original film’s release.
